Lake James is an expansive, deep water lake located at the base of Shortoff Mountain. The public boat ramp is located 2 miles from the front door of the cabin. The lake is great for sport fishing, motor boating, kayaking, and swimming. Launch the two tandem inflatable kayaks from the cabin at the public boat ramp! Lake James State Park has beach access swimming, locker rooms, and parking for a low entrance fee:
